What it checks, and why it matters
Every rule below comes from the Content Box disclosure reference — the regulator's or platform's own text, with the date we last read it. Undated advice is how accounts die.
Every platform truncates: YouTube shows ~70 of 100 title characters, Instagram folds at ~125, TikTok ~100, LinkedIn ~210. Whatever matters must survive the cut — the counter shows the real fold per format.
The FTC's endorsement rules (16 CFR Part 255) require a material connection disclosed in words a viewer can't miss. "#sp", "#collab" and gratitude don't qualify — the scan knows the difference.
A clear disclosure buried after the fold fails the point — the FTC wants it unavoidable, and a #ad drowned in a hashtag pile is not disclosure. The checker tests wording and position.
Realistic AI-generated visuals or audio need the platform's AI label at upload — AI helping you write needs no label anywhere. That one distinction is the most mangled rule in creator advice.
Income promises, medical claims, "guaranteed", and the openers everyone scrolls past ("you won't believe…"). If it isn't true or it isn't specific, it costs trust — and sometimes the account.
Duplicates waste slots; pile-ups read as spam and bury the disclosure. The sane ceiling differs per platform — 2 on X, 5 on LinkedIn, ~8 elsewhere — and the checker counts against the right one.

Is my draft uploaded anywhere?
No. The checks run entirely in your browser and keep working with the wi-fi off. Nothing you type or paste is transmitted — the only network activity on this page is an anonymous page-view count.
What counts as a real sponsorship disclosure?
Plain words a viewer cannot miss: "ad", "sponsored", "paid partnership with …", or a sentence saying the brand sent the product free — placed where it is seen without tapping "more". Vague tags like #sp or #collab are not enough, gratitude is not disclosure, and a #ad buried in a hashtag pile does not count. The checker tests both the wording and whether it sits before the fold.
Do I need an AI label on this caption?
Not for using AI to help write it — workflow AI needs no label anywhere. Labels are for realistic synthetic media: AI-generated visuals or audio that could read as real footage need the platform's AI toggle set at upload, every time. This checker reminds you; only the upload screen can actually set it.
